How to solve proportion word problems

To solve a proportion word problem, you need to know what is the correct equation. One side of the equation should be the same as the other. In the example below 24/60 = 0.4. Which must mean that 384 out of y is the same. Since 0.4 is the same a 40% and that we know that 384/p is the answer, what we do is divide 384 by 4 so the quotient will be 10% of the answer. Then we multiply it by 10 so we have 100% of the answer. Which is 960 sprinkles.
