What's Heredity?

Heredity is when traits are passed down from parents to their offspring. Gregor Mendal first experimented about hereditery with pea plants. He discovered that the gene for tall height is a dominant gene and the gene for short height is recessive. Reginald Punnet also experimented with pea plants and was able to develop The Punnet Square. The Punnet square predicts the probability of certain traits in offspring based on the traits of the parents. It works by putting the genes in a graph, putting the genes of one parent on the horizontal side and the genes of the other parent on the vertical side. For example, if both parents have the genes Tt, the picture below will show how it is arranged on the Punnet square.
