How does WTFast work?

This article will explain to you the purpose of WTFast and how it works. Just in case you didn’t understand the explanation video on their website. Or maybe you didn’t know there was a video there.

Ping is the delay between when information is sent from your computer and when it arrives at its destination. For example, the game’s server. When the information hasn’t arrived yet, your computer will attempt to predict the actions of all the game objects until the actual information from the server arrives. Unfortunately, since the computer’s predictions aren’t always correct, you’re computer will immediately have to change the state of the game to show you the actually state. This is what often causes other players or NPCs to seemingly teleport in games. This is called “lag”.

Now that you know what lag is, we can discuss what WTFast is for. That information between your computer and the server has a delay because there are other computers also trying to send information down virtual routes. This is called “traffic”. What WTFast does is create a private route for your information, giving you less traffic. Similar to those roads where you need to pay a  toll, WTFast is also a paid service. Though despite being paid, it does create a better experience for gamers since it means you will be less likely to have lag in your game.

Although, your game’s performance doesn’t 100% rely on good ping. There are also other factors than can alter the performance of your game. For example, if your laptop doesn’t have enough Random Access Memory (RAM) or doesn’t have strong enough processors to turn the code into images, your game could experience an drop in your frame rate (FPS). Also, an unreliable modem can also have an effect. If you have a bad modem, it could not be capable of keeping you connected to the world/server. And you laptop might also not able to remain connected due to being old. Like now, while I am writing this, I am getting disconnected and reconnected every ~7 minutes.

Offline games, are a different story. Offline games don’t need any wifi to playable. Though sometimes, it just makes it better. Since offline games won’t need wifi connection to be playable, the performance is at least 90% based on your computers capability (Such as RAM, graphics cards, or even if you have the hardware you need to play it).
