What is instantaneous speed?

Instantaneous speed is the current speed of an object at a given time. When using a graph, intantaneous speed can be measured by measuring the speed of the object between two points in time before, after or, during the given time. Instantaneous velocity is measured the same way, but when the position goes down on the graph over time, it's a negative number. In instantaneous speed, the measurement is a positive number despite the direction.
