What is scandium?
Scandium is the twenty-first element on the periodic table. It was discovered by Lars Fredrik Nilson in 1879. Scandium is a very rare element. As a metal, it is used to make bikes, baseball bats, fishing poles, and other kinds sports equipment. Scandium iodide (I₃SC) is used to make lamps that mimic sunlight.

What is titanium?
Titanium is the twenty-second element on the periodic table. It was discovered by William Gregor in 1791. Titanium has a similar strength to steel and is lighter. Because of its strength, heat resistance, and being lightweight, it is used to aircraft and missiles. Titanium also bonds easily with other elements, making it useful for making alloys; an alloy is a combination of metals.

What is vanadium?
Vanadium is the twenty-third element on the periodic table. Some of its uses are for medical treatment; it is used to treat high cholesterol, diabetes, tuberculosis, and heart disease. One of its other use is for making alloys. Alloys made with vanadium, titanium, and aluminum are used for making jet engines. Vanadium pentoxide (V₂O₅)

What is chromium?
Chromium is the twenty-fourth element on the periodic table. Chromium is used to alloys such as stainless steel. It is also used as treatment for diabetes by improving the body's blood sugar control. Unfortunately, too much of chromium supplements can cause liver and kidney damage.

What is manganese?
Manganese is the twenty-fifth element on the periodic table. One of its uses are for refining iron ore. Manganese dioxide (MnO₂). It also helps the body make certain tissues and blood-clotting. Manganese is also involved in calcium absorption and metabolism.

What is iron?
Iron is twenty-sixth element on the periodic table. It is one of the most common elements on Earth and has multiple uses in both construction and health. It is used to make steel alloys that are used in engineering and construction and is also used in making reinforced concrete. Iron also helps the body. It is used to make hemoglobin; hemoglobin is what allows red blood cells to carry oxygen through the body. Iron ore is found in magnetite (Fe₃O₄).

What is cobalt?
Cobalt is the twenty-seventh element on the periodic table. It is used in making alloys that are used in some types of stainless steel, jet engines, turbines, and ceramics. Cobalt-60 is a radioactive isotope of cobalt that is safe enough to be used in medicine. Cobalt-60 is also used to find cancer.
