Periodic Table Part 8

What is nickel?
Nickel is the twenty-eighth element on the periodic table. It is normally used for creation of alloys. An alloy is a combination of metals. Because of nickel's resistance against corrosion, it is used for making stainless steel. Nichrome is an alloy made of nickel and chrome and also a little bit of iron, silicon, and manganese.

What is copper?
Copper is twenty-ninth element on the periodic table. Because of copper's high conductivity, it is used for making wires, generators, motors, and other electronics. Along with conducting electricity, copper also can conduct heat, making it good for air-conditioners and household heaters.

What is zinc?
Zinc is the thirtieth element on the periodic table. It is used for industrial uses such as manufacturing alloys and making certain materials. Zinc is used to make aluminum solder, brass, and nickel silver. Zinc oxide (ZnO) is used to make plastic, paints, soaps, inks, rubber, batteries, and other things.

What is gallium?
Gallium is the thirty-first element on the periodic table. It is used in thermometers as a safer option than mercury. Gallium arsenide (GaAs) is used to make laser diodes; a diode is an electronic piece that only allows energy to go in one direction; a laser diode makes light go in one direction and to make a laser.
