Steve Jobs (Founder of Apple)

Who was Steve Jobs?
Steve Jobs was an American inventor who co-founded Apple with Steve Wozniak. He was born on February 24, 1955. Unfortunately, he was put up for adoption at birth. He left college to try out different jobs and was a very intelligent child.

What did he do?
He founded Apple with Steve Wozniak in 1976. What they were trying to do was to make cheaper and smaller machines to make them available to more people.

Did he get married?
Yes. On March 18, 1991, he married Laurene Powell. They met at Stanford business school and had three children and lived in Palo Alto, California.

If he was adopted, who raised him?
He was adopted by Paul Jobs and his wife, Clara Jobs. As a child, he lived in Mountain View California, in what in what is now known as Silicon Valley. Steve didn't know who his biological parents were until he was 27.

How were his parents?
Clara Jobs, Steve's mother, was an accountant and Paul Jobs, Steve's father, was a veteran in the Coast Guard. As a child, Steve and his father would work with electronics in their garage. His father taught him how to disassemble electronics.

How was his education?
As a child, he played pranks because he was bored and had to be bribed by his teacher to study. Although, he did so well on his tests, that the administrators wanted to skip him forward to high school. Although, his parents declined that offer. He then applied to Reed College in Portland, Oregon after high school.

How did he start Apple?
At the age of 21, Steve Wozniak and Steve Jobs founded Apple Computer on 1976, in Jobs' garage. Since they needed money, Steve Jobs' sold his Volkswagen bus and Steve Wozniak sold his calculator.

I heard he started Pixar Animations.
Yes, in 1986, Steve Jobs purchased an animation company from George Lucas. From that company, Jobs started Pixar Animations. He invested 50 million dollars of his money on Pixar Animations. Pixar Animations then partnered with Walt Disney in 2006. They produced popular movies such as Toy Story and Finding Nemo.

What did he do before starting Apple?
In 1974, Steve Jobs worked as a game designer for Atari. He then left to go to India to find enlightenment.

How did he die?
Steve Jobs died on October 5, 2011 at the age of 56 in Pala Alto. He died because of pancreatic cancer.

  1. Very nice. Steve Jobs is an interesting character, not only because he was intelligent, which this article mentions, but even more so because he was passionate about what he did. He had an internal fire. I would love to hear more about Steve Jobs and look forward to more articles about him. Remember the sugar water article I once told you about?
